On February 3, 2024, the "Happy Spring Festival" temple fair, hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and the Nigerian China Cultural Center, and co organized by the Nigerian China General Chamber of Commerce, opened in the cultural center courtyard. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Cui Jianchun, Chairman of the Nepalese China Relations Committee of the Nigerian House of Representatives Jafaru, Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Belo, Chairman of the Nigerian Arts and Culture Council Rensaiwei, ambassadors from the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Iran, Pakistan and other countries to Nigeria, representatives from various sectors of Nigerian society, teachers and students from 12 schools with "China‘s Corner", and personnel from Chinese funded enterprises in Nigeria More than 2000 people, including overseas Chinese, mainstream media reporters from China and Nepal, participated in the event.

Ambassador Cui said in his welcome speech that 2024 is the the Year of the Loong in the Chinese lunar calendar. The dragon is the totem of the Chinese nation and a symbol of auspiciousness, wisdom and strength. He congratulated guests and friends from all walks of life on the New Year. With the help of the meanings of the words represented by the six letters of Dragon, he vividly interpreted the continuously improving friendship and bilateral relations between China and Nigeria: D stands for Development. Both China and Nigeria are striving to develop their own countries. Only development can make personal and social progress. China is willing to help Nigeria‘s economic and social development on the journey of Chinese path to modernization; R stands for Revival. After the COVID-19 epidemic, the economy of China and Nigeria and other countries around the world has been revitalized. China is willing to work with Nigeria to promote inclusive economic globalization; A represents Assistance. Both China and Nepal are populous countries in Asia and Africa, and the two countries need to unite and help each other to jointly achieve poverty reduction and poverty alleviation goals, and strive to make the people of both countries live a better and happier life; N stands for Nationalism. Both China and Nepal are multi-ethnic countries, loving their respective countries and taking pride and confidence in their own countries. This is the fundamental guarantee for the common growth, development, and progress of China and Nepal.

This year‘s "Happy Spring Festival" temple fair includes eight major sections: image exhibitions, movie screenings, interactive entertainment, cultural performances, cultural exhibitions, tea art performances, food squares, and dynamic zones. As a highlight of the temple fair, the cultural performance and food square gather exciting programs such as traditional dance, Peking Opera, Yangko, dragon and lion dance, pipa solo, and nearly a hundred well made dishes provided by 18 food stalls, allowing each guest to enjoy the cultural feast and taste sweet and delicious cuisine. During the temple fair, Ambassador Cui was interviewed by more than 20 domestic and foreign media.
