On June 24th, Abuja, People‘s Daily reported that the Nigeria China Mining Federation (CMF) held its second council and election. More than 30 people, including Wang Yingqi, a member of the Commercial Office of the Embassy in Nigeria, Iyachi, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Vice President of CMF, and representatives of the governing units, attended the meeting. The meeting reported on the work situation of the Nigeria China Mining Federation in the first half of the year and the work plan for the second half of the year. The "Nigeria China Mining Federation Charter" was collectively reviewed and revised, and the meeting decided to change the election from once a year to once every three years.

According to the anonymous voting results, the meeting elected Li Hui, Chairman of China Union Corporation, as the President, Wang Weihuan, Chairman of Zhongyu International, as the First Executive Vice President, Long Songqing, Vice General Manager of Northern International Nigeria Branch, and Chen Hailin, Chairman of Wanyu International, as the Honorary President and Chairman of the Supervisory Board, respectively. In addition, Jinpeng Mining Machinery Co., Ltd. Nigeria Company was added as the Vice President Unit, CCBC Nigeria Testing Center and Haifeng Mining were added as the Supervisory Units.

Li Hui stated that the China Nepal Mining Federation has been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation in the mining industry between the two countries, and has made positive contributions to promoting economic prosperity and friendship between the two peoples. In the future, the Mining Federation will adhere to the mission of serving members, serving the industry, and giving back to society, and strive to build an open, inclusive, cooperative, and win-win mining development platform.

Iyachi stated that since its establishment, the Mining Federation has achieved remarkable results, providing constructive suggestions for Nigeria‘s policies on raw ore exports, putting effort into enterprise safety issues, assisting in resolving disputes between enterprises, and closely cooperating with the Public Relations Office of the Chamber of Commerce in external publicity work, resulting in positive social benefits. In the future, the Mining Federation needs to further strengthen its beliefs, unite sincerely, and defend the main position of the mining industry in terms of industry systems, dispute mediation, upholding justice, and strengthening communication.

Wang Yingqi highly recognizes the work of the Mining Union in the past year. He stated that the new era endows new missions, new requirements, and also faces new challenges. The new mining federation should continue to effectively protect the rights and interests of enterprise employees and attach great importance to safety risks. The embassy and commercial office will continue to strengthen guidance and support for the mining federation, jointly resist risks, and better lead the standardized development of enterprises.
The Nigeria China Mining Association was established in August 2023. It is an industry non-governmental organization voluntarily formed by relevant enterprises, institutions, research institutes, schools, and individuals stationed in Nigeria. Its aim is to promote exchanges and cooperation among Chinese mining enterprises in Nigeria, provide assistance to members in expanding the market in Nigeria, and actively coordinate and regulate members‘ business behavior in Nigeria.
