On February 7, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria held a Spring Festival reception for overseas Chinese and Chinese funded institutions. Ambassador Cui Jianchun attended and delivered a congratulatory message for the Chinese New Year. More than 400 people, including Chinese funded institutions and overseas Chinese representatives, gathered in Nigeria to celebrate the Spring Festival of the the Year of the Loong.



In his speech, Ambassador Cui extended his greetings to the guests in the the Year of the Loong, saying that the embassy in Nepal is the home of all compatriots in Nigeria. Welcome everyone home to celebrate the New Year together, and wish you all the "descendants of the dragon" a prosperous year of the dragon!



With courage and determination, we have taken solid steps towards building a socialist modernized country in all respects. China‘s diplomacy as a major country with Chinese characteristics has been solidly promoted, and the external environment for China‘s development continues to improve.

Ambassador Cui stated that 2023 is the year of Nepal‘s general election and also a historically significant year for China Nepal relations. Major projects such as the Laiji Deepwater Port, the Kano Data Center, and the Lagos Blue Line Light Rail have been successfully completed. We have strengthened cooperation and docking with Nepal in areas such as electricity, agriculture, digital economy, nuclear energy, and finance, adding new connotations to China Nepal‘s practical cooperation. We propose a seven pronged approach of "pre education, prediction, warning, prevention, contingency planning, and rehearsal" to promote the establishment of a "all-weather multi-dimensional warning, ten minute safety avoidance" safety warning demonstration site, making successful attempts to prevent and resolve security risks. Guided by the eight character policy of "reducing suspension and withdrawing" and "managing, cracking down, preventing and expanding", we continuously promote the refinement of safety work. Guide the establishment of the Nigerian China Mining Federation to promote China Nepal mining cooperation to a new level.

Ambassador Cui emphasized that the year 2024, which has already begun, marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People‘s Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five Year Plan.
